Common types of parasitic worms include roundworms (such as Ascaris), tapeworms (Taenia), hookworms, and whipworms. These worms can enter the human body through contaminated food, water, soil, or insect bites.

Causes: Parasitic worms are often transmitted in areas with poor sanitation, where people come into contact with contaminated water or food. Ingesting undercooked or improperly prepared meat, particularly pork or fish, can also lead to infection. Children and individuals in tropical and subtropical regions are at a higher risk.

Treatment: Parasitic worm infections are typically treated with antiparasitic medications such as Albendazole, Mebendazole, or Praziquantel. These medications work by killing the worms or causing them to be expelled from the body. Treatment may involve a single dose or a longer course, depending on the severity of the infection.

To prevent parasitic worm infections, it’s essential to practice good hygiene, drink clean water, thoroughly cook meat, and avoid walking barefoot in contaminated areas. Regular deworming is also recommended in high-risk populations.
